Middle Level Intramurals (Activities) Philosophy:
The goal of activities is to provide a supportive environment for students to enhance academic pursuits and to achieve goals pertaining to increased success, social development, physical development, cooperation, positive self-concept, and personal worth and integrity. Further, activities should enable students to explore interest areas, develop new interests, and apply new knowledge through participation in individual and group activities. The intent of activities is for students to gain a sense of pride in accomplishments, to maintain the proper perspective of losing and winning, and to do one's best at whatever that level may be.
Approved by Activities Council January 8th, 1992

Teams:

Please don't request teams for transportation purposes or friendships. We are trying to prepare our athletes for high school sports as best as we possibly can. Athletes and parents don't make team requests at the high school level. We have 3 different teams-A, B, & C.
"A" team participants have a higher skill level
"B" team participants have an average skill level
"C" team participants have a beginning skill level
Cross Country, Soccer, Wrestling, & Track do not conduct tryouts for teams. Athletes participate against other athletes at their grade level.
Practices:
Practices are held after school at Pound from 3:00 to around 4:30. They may end earlier or a little later. However, rides should be arranged for pickup by 4:30 on most days. Rides should pick up athletes out in front of the building. Coaches will handout practice schedules or announce practice schedules. *No practices are conducted on PLC days or Parent Teacher Conference days or days school is not in session. *Also note, Lincoln Public Schools has a closed practice policy.

Expectations of Participants, Coaches, & Spectators:
*Parents are reminded that Saturday morning activities are open only to those students who are participating in the activity.
*Family members are encouraged to attend these events to support students who are involved.
*Due to space limitations, non-participating students are not welcome to attend events at their home school or at other Lincoln Public Middle Schools.
*Food & Beverages are not allowed in the gyms.
*Exhibit only positive verbal and non-verbal gestures toward the activity.
*Refrain from using abusive or inappropriate language.
*Demostrate an accceptance of all participants regardless of skill level.
*Maintain a proper perspective of losing and winning.
*Model appropriate behavior toward game officials.
*Encourage behaviors that bring credit to you, your child, your community and your school.
*Let the athletes play.
*Let the coaches coach.
*All school rules still apply.
Practice & Game Absences:
Pound has a one unexcused absence policy. A note or message left in the office for coaches is required for all practice/game absences. After one unexcused absence, the next unexcused absence will result in the athlete being removed from the team for the remainder of the season. Of course school comes first. If teachers request athletes stay after school, that is a priority over any practice. Students must get a pass from the teacher to avoid an unexcused absence. Also, participating in other after school activities is encouraged. Practices missed due to attending these events will also require a teacher pass or note. Athletes that miss practices may have their game time reduced. This decision is on a case-by-case basis determined by the coaches.
